Iddo deVries

Clinical Director

Iddo has been practicing speech therapy for over 10 years and has been studying the field for over 12.  He has worked in multiple settings including schools, homes, adult care facilities, and most recently in a multi-disciplinary clinical setting where he provided direct therapy, assessments, supervision, management, and training to staff and families.

In 2014, Iddo opened DV Therapy to provide dynamic therapy that focuses on the individual and their family. With a strong emphasis in family training, Iddo strives to give the child and the family the tools to reach independence and improve quality of life. Iddo has a strong clinical presence and is always working encourage his patients to reach beyond what they imagined possible.

In 2011 Iddo was awarded the outstanding achievement award in the field of speech therapy by the New York City Dept. of Education and has been an active member of the nationally accredited speech board ASHA since 2006. With a focus on individuals with Autism, Iddo has had significant success in developing the necessary communication skills with socially difficult individuals.

Iddo has had success in treating individuals from birth-21 with disabilities and delays including, Autism, Late-talkers, PDD, specific language impairments, Articulation and Phonological disorders, Auditory Processing Delays, Stuttering, Pragmatic and social delays, Verbal Apraxia of Speech.

Etta Astrin

Vice President of Operations

Etta received her bachelors degree at CUNY Brooklyn in the field of Psychology. Following her desire to help others, Etta studied Clinical Social Work and received her masters degree at Hunter College. While living in New York, Etta provided critical social and emotional support for at risk youth and to systematically build schools that are safe, successful, and conducive to learning through Partnership with Children. After leaving New York, Etta and her family moved to California. She found a career through Open Paths Counseling Center before ultimately becoming Vice President of Operations at DV Therapy.

Mariah Prentice

HR Manager

Mariah received her bachelors degree in Communicative Disorders at California State University of Fullerton in 2012. That same year, she completed her SLPA externship through California State University of Northridge.

During her schooling, Mariah gained a wide variety of experience with preschool aged children to adults. She worked directly with junior high students as an AVID tutor for over 3 years, a high school debate coach, and a special education substitute paraprofessional for a year. Aside from work, Mariah volunteered through St. Jude Medical Center by assisting the Communication Recovery Group to provide a safe space to practice conversation for adults with aphasia, as well as other motor speech disorders. She also completed her SLPA internship through St. Jude Outpatient Rehabilitation Center where she observed and assisted a wide variety of therapy treatments for patients with swallowing difficulties, aphasia, apraxia, autism, TBI, and more. While there, she also helped plan and lead the children’s social skills group. Since then, Mariah has continue to grow in her role as an SLPA by providing direct 1 on 1 therapy to a variety of ages.

Aside from providing therapy services, Mariah works closesly with the varying departments and supports the day to day activity of DV Therapy employees.

Rachel-Scarbury

Rachel Velasquez

Office Manager and Speech Language Pathologist Assistant

Rachel received her A.S. degree along with completing the SLPA Program at Pasadena City College. Before and during her studies at PCC to be a Certified and Licensed SLPA, she gained early childhood and school aged experience while working in the public-school setting. She started as a Head Start Teachers Assistant for 3 ½ years and then moved on to being a Speech Assistant for 4 years. Since having left the public-school setting, once received her Certificate and License in December of 2011, Rachel has been providing speech and language services for all ages from a variety of disorders, diagnosis, clients who are in need of Augmentative/Alternative Communication and Assistive Technology. In her free time, Rachel enjoys singing, routing for her favorite sports teams/attending sports events, spending time with her family and watching T.V. shows

Melissa Enciso

Medical Billing/Admin. Assistant

Melissa Enciso graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor in Health Care Administration. During her time at CSULB she interned at a Skilled Nursing Facility where she moved her way up to Office Manager. She has over 8 years of experience working in the health care services and continues to grow. She completed her Master of Business Administration at California State University, San Bernardino in March 2022 and enjoys helping others.

Evelyn Cortes

Payroll Specialist

Evelyn Cortes has decades of successful experience in Payroll. She is disciplined and focused and can be relied upon. She is flexible and available to help out the organization at short notice when required. She is a strong believer in the power of positive thinking in the workplace. Evelyn enjoys a good Lifetime movie, but can also be found hiking with her family.
